The customer

Leading provider of telephone, digital TV, broadband internet access services in the UK and Northern Ireland.

The Challenge

As a result of a major acquisition, the customer was having two (02) systems that provided roughly similar functionality but used different network elements, protocols and information systems. The business users needed someone to bridge the information gap between the systems and provide similar information for decision-making. The objective was to build an integrated capacity monitoring system, which would allow them to proactively monitor the network traffic trends and plan the re-segmentation on both the platforms. Another key requirement from IT perspective was to minimize the maintenance overheads and leverage on existing tools and technologies to minimize the development cycle.

The Solution

ICCG is currently a strategic partner providing system integration services to the customer. Team ICCG started by quickly understanding the key features of the new platform for which capacity monitoring capabilities were to be implemented and also reviewed the one already in place. For integrating the data from the two platforms, the strategy adopted was - gap analysis, which highlighted the similarities and the differences in the two systems. ICCG has provided a flexible design that can accommodate the differences between the systems and implemented the same within a short period of 11 weeks only. The design was done with a view that it didn't involve extensive changes to the existing system. This quick-speed system delivery enabled the customer to access the similar information from both the platforms and has led to significantly enhanced and improved decision making for the customer.
